Happy April! I'm ready for spring, how about you?
Hillary Clinton said, "It takes a whole village to raise a child." I think IT TAKES THE WHOLE CLUB TO RAISE JUST ONE MEETING! Here's a rundown of the March meeting, behind the scenes as well as the event itself.
THE PREPARATION:
Gail, with assistance from Mary Louise Clay, cooked, baked, and made
decorations for the fabulous food fest we all expect at every gathering.
Gail also brought two sympathy cards for recent widowed members in Lamar.
Helen did beautiful calligraphy work on the certificate for Shelley
Abadi, our YWPA award winner. Shannon did the financial report and bought
the drinks. Susie updated our roster to include the new members (Bravo!),
typed the yellow cards to accompany the roses, and bought hangers. Pam
ordered and delivered 150 yellow roses. Eva invited Judy Evans to attend
and Elfie Prochaska to be our speaker. Phyllis brought the Zipper Board,
cash box and raffle tickets. Betty received a Fax from Sharon, Rita typed
the February minutes and brought Eva's birthday card, and Pam and Gail
brought raffle gifts. That's 12 ladies who did their homework (including
me) and that's not even the meeting yet!
THE MAIN EVENT: THE MEETING
Monday, March 18 at 5 p.m. I met Susie and Rita at the police station,
and for the next 40 minutes we unpacked and then displayed sweaters on
two coat racks. The board meeting was fast and furious as members began
to arrive to set up the food and roses and shop for sweaters. During the
meeting, in Sharon's absence, Betty presented the YWPA award. In Liz's
absence, Phyllis conducted the zipper competition. In Kate's absence, I
made the fashion show report. Who did I forget? Those of you who
contributed to the raffle and/or bought sweaters. Thanks so much for your
constant support.
At 9 p.m. Rita and Susie packed up and went home, four hours after they arrived. And that was just one meeting.
We're successful because of all of you. Indeed, it does take the whole club to raise just one meeting.
See you April 15.
Zonta hugs,
Kris:)
