Our September General Meeting, September 18, 2006 at 5:30 p.m. will be an important one and everyone should plan to attend. Our speaker will be Debra Dion Krischke who will be working with us and answering questions about the Glass Slipper Ball.
We will be meeting at Antonio's at 5:30 p.m. Our choices for dinner are: Beef Tenderloin-$17.95, Chicken - $14.95, Eggplant Parm. - $10.95 or a pasta dish - $11.95. Please e-mail or call me to confirm attendance so we can make reservations before the 18th. If you know your dinner choice, that would be helpful also.

Pikes Peak Area Outreach in Australia :-)
Prior to the 2006 Zonta Convention in Melbourne, I was fortunate enough to spend some days with Dianne Leggo in Bundaberg. Club members will remember her visiting our club, mainly as the ZI Chairman for Membership. Two other past District Officers from Denver, Joanne Bass and Mary Benoit, and I spent some days with Dianne and were treated to kangaroos, koalas, the Great Barrier Reef, and a wonderful visit with some of Dianne's club members.
We then traveled to convention with Dianne and proceeded with a whirlwind experience of Zonta at its finest. Melbourne is a wonderful city and a perfect venue for about 2,000 Zontians. Highlights included reports on our International Service Projects, Zonta International Foundation, proposed by-law changes and reports from winners of YWPA, Amelia Earhart, and Jane M. Klausman awards. The reins of ZI were passed from President Mary Ellen Bitner (US) to Olivia Ferry (Phillipines) in a gracious glittering installation.
Of special note for members is the amended Mission Statement:
Following the convention our 'terrific' trio spent the last week in New Zealand with a bus load of Zontians from the US, Finland, Germany, Canada, Turkey and Cyprus. We visited Christchurch, Mt. Cook, Queenstown and Dunedin. We were fortunate to have members of the Christchurch and Dunedin clubs meet with us in their cities. What a heart warming experience to talk one on one with these ladies about their club fund-raisers and service projects.
My advice to all PPA members: Start saving now for the Rotterdam 2008 convention, it promises to be another inspiring experience!
See WWW.Zonta.Org for detailed highlights of the convention.
