PONDERINGS FROM THE PREZ!

from Pamela Sufak

Busy and exciting times are ahead with the installation of new officers and the International Convention in the "Big Apple," my beloved home town!

I will leave this office after one year with mixed feelings. Some regrets and some relief; some joys and a profound gratitude that you honored me with your respect and support this last year. You wonderful Zontians deserve a president who is highly engaged and capable, which you will have in Teri Hermans. I am excited about our future under her leadership.

We are strong and healthy and we are growing! We keep enriching our club with more substance and content each month. Committee's are working, extras are being generated and fun is afoot. I hope you all remember to keep the fun and enjoy our Rocky Mountain Springtime!

Zonta Hugs to All,
Pamela

Betty's Bits

by Betty Edwards

Sorry to hear of the death of Liz Groothof-Croddy's mother last weekend. Liz is traveling to Boise to be with her sisters at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with her.

Our president, Pamela Sufak, rushed home from a trip last week to have some emergency surgery. She is recuperating at home this week, and we wish her a speedy recovery.

Pat Kosley, our Nut Lady and Membership chairman, is heading to Texas later this week to be with her daughter who will be recovering from surgery. She reports she will be gone for some time and has asked me to fill in with membership inquiries, etc.

Other notes -

The United Nations Association has re-established a chapter in Colorado Springs. Their organizational meeting on February 24 was well-attended and they are meeting monthly to support the work of the United Nations. For further information, please contact Dr. Patricia Richard-Amoto, email: richardamato@earthlink.net. Patricia is a member of AAUW and lives in Woodland Park.

Must mention the March 30th meeting at the Penrose Library for the "Women of Colorado Nonprofit Showcase." See kudo's for our organizer, Earlene Herman. She recruited several of us to be there with her to answer questions, etc. The volunteers included Rita Jones, Teri Hermans, Renee Troppe, Kate Brewster, Kris Wells, and Betty Hudson. We gathered a few names of prospective members so that was a bonus to our educating the community on what Zonta is and what it does. Good effort!

Quotation of the Month
"While we have the gift of life, it seems to me the only tragedy is to allow part of us to die -- whether it is our spirit, our creativity or our glorious uniqueness."
- Gilda Radner (1946-1989)

Fashion Show Just a Month Away!!!

As you all know, our next fashion show is scheduled for Saturday, May 8th, in the Penrose Room at The Broadmoor Hotel. Tickets have been distributed, but I would like anyone who has extra tickets to contact me as soon as possible so that other people might try to sell them. It would be great to have all 120 tickets sold as soon as possible.

Secondly, don't forget to contact Liz Groothof Croddy with your numbers as soon as you can so that she can arrange seating .... I'm sure everyone would like to sit with their own guests!!

Finally, please remember to get your raffle prize information to me prior to April 28th, either by e-mail (catebrewster@aol.com), by filling out the raffle sheet and mailing it to me (2807 Marilyn Road 80909) or by telephone (630-8801).

This is going to be a great event with fashions provided by Shops at Briargate. There will certainly be something for everyone!!

KUDOS to Kris Wells and Renee Troppe for providing images of the pin-making party and the March General meeting

KUDOS to Teri Hermans for providing an excellent Area 4 Meeting report for the Pikes Peak Area Club

KUDOS to Kris Wells, Rita Jones and Phyllis Zell for putting together another big money-making basket and selling tickets at the Area 4 meeting. Moneys benefit the Big Apple Fund!

KUDOS to Earlene Herman was awesome in arranging the Zonta club's participation in the "Women of Colorado Nonprofit Showcase" at the Penrose Library, Tuesday evening, March 30. She scheduled the ladies, followed up with the organizers for information, arranged our table with gorgeous yellow roses and handouts, acquired our donations for the drawings, and, of course, looked beautiful with her colors in her choice of wardrobe. Congratulations, Earlene. Good job. -From Betty Edwards

KUDOS to Earlene Herman for getting Zonta a spot at the Penrose Library event. It was a great thing for our club to participate in. -From Renee Troppe
