Purpose of the Glass Slipper Ball
The Zonta Club of the Pikes Peak Area is conducting its 4th Annual Glass
Slipper Ball featuring the Best of the Chefs. The Glass Slipper Ball is
open to the public and supports the charitable efforts of the local Zonta
Club.
Proceeds from the 2009 GSB provided continuing support for the Life
Skills Curriculum, which was created with funds from the 2008 event
and is offered to residents of TESSA's safe-house. Again this year, a
portion of funds raised will be directed toward raising community
awareness of the presence of human trafficking right here in Colorado
Springs. Zonta also provides a yearly financial award to one local woman,
aged 16-20, each year who has demonstrated a commitment to volunteerism.
Local chefs, florists, musicians and dancers donate their respective
skills to help give the Glass Slipper Ball a professionally-produced
atmosphere under a volunteer organization's budget. As a result, the
maximum amount of funds are available to raise community awareness on the
status of women in dangerous situations and to provide direct support to
the local community safe-house.
Post-event comments encouraged the Club to pursue the event again in 2010
and partners are again joining the opportunity to be a part of it.
